MP3, MIDI, MP4, and etc are all format for your music. Different electronic devices such as Ipod, MP3 Player, Radio, Mobile Phone would require different music format.
Assuming you have just bought Linkin Park CD. And you listen it on your CD Player. You like it so much that you want to listen to the song when you are jogging. Luckily you have an MP3 player. Upon that, you need to change the format of the music on the CD to suite the need of your MP3 Player. This is because the music format on the CD is different from the one needed by the MP3 player.
