I been writing articles related to freeware and share that you can install on your computer for free. It is a free software so it does not require us to pay fee except for some that only give trial period. And i have never write topics related towards on how to protect your computer.

Although, i am supposed to write about freeware, shareware and free software but i do believe by protecting your computers you can use and try more free software. Furthermore, maybe it could help protect you from installing certain software that are sometimes full of virus and spyware. You would not want to end up storing your computer’s right?

So here are the 4 steps to protect your computer.

First of all, you have to make sure that your computer have firewall and it is turned on. Firewall help protect your computer from hacker that is trying to destroy your computer or information or trying to steal information such as our credit cards number, maybe our bank’s account information or maybe steal our identity. For your information there are a few types of firewall. There are software, router devices, and wireless router. Software are those install on your computers for security that act as a layer to protect your computer from intrusion. Both router devices and wireless router enable to do settings to block any risky connection that is known.

Secondly is to make sure that you use original operating system. Do not use any pirated operating system. If you do not have the money to buy original operating system, then you can just use free operating systems such as Linux. Its free plus it is a very light software. So upon getting original operating system, you should update it frequently. Just plug in into the internet and try to update it. You can try to update it weekly. A pirated operating system could not be updated as the serial numbers are null and does not enable it to be update.

Thirdly is installing an antivirus software. Antivirus software could enhance the security created by the firewall. So by installing an antivirus software, you can detect viruses on your computer, clean it from your computer and then be much safer on using your computer. Apart from that, you can scan any removable devices like pendrive and so on. So your computer will be protected. Make sure you update it as well.

Lastly is installing a anti-spyware software. Virus and spyware are two different types of bad threat. If you are using windows, usually it is already pre-installed with Windows Defender. So Just update it frequently. If you do not have any  anti-spyware, you can install a new one and please do get it from a reliable sources.

So there you are. The 4 steps of protecting your computers. There are always threat outside there and it would be best if we try to protect rather that suffering loss later on.
